Erin Bullard oh that voice I know so well. I love this album. Navigate is lovely and I like the images in the lyrics that then link to the simple truths of love. Yet the lot have great lyrics. And a vocal from sweet crooning to gentle lows. Not to mention the often enchanting guitar.

Aaron J. Shay (he/him) At times strange and surreal, these meditations on loss and lostness are beautiful encapsulations of the profoundly personal. Favorite track: Navigate.

I saw the sunlight escaping running fast across the field I was just too slow to catch it I suppose I never will I saw your metal flashing laid my guns down at your feet I surrender, I surrender in victory and defeat you were standing in the courtyard in the last gold light of day you sounded disappointed said "I was sure you'd get away" the sun out in the desert will bleach the bones all white the rain will come to quench them the timing's just not right it's a long and weary year you've been pursuing me the trail just wore you down you said you'd set me free look east, the night draws near blood matted in its fur if I leave here now it will hunt me down for sure "You don't have to go," you said "but I'm not going to stay. There's trouble if you follow. Choose another way." a link in the chain is broken the reigns have all gone slack when someone gives their life to you you cannot give it back now I hear the hooves of thunder see the shadows start to spread my heart is filled with longing my mind is filled with dread into the raging storm into the desperate sea I will follow you just as you once followed me
2.
dip your toes in this dark river push yourself away from shore you are such a graceful swimmer though you never swam before wrap the water 'round your shoulders let the cold beneath your skin closer to your beating heart than a lover's ever been oh the water, oh the waves you have never been afraid shattered moonlight on the surface like a pane of broken glass I have let my fears and worries get the best of me at last now your body, bending rippling slipping through my grasping hand which of us is on the water? which of us is on the land? oh the water, oh the waves oh my dear, you are so brave be a swimmer not forever be a stranger not to me let the water find its level let the river find the sea you are such a graceful swimmer though you never swam before do not stay this way for ever do not stay away from shore oh the water, oh the waves oh my dear, you are so brave

The wind sings in the tree's empty grasp. So too I sing to you when from your hands I'm cast. So see the leaves tremble. Hear the gentle breeze, hear me—remember. Remember. Oh, wind (soft breath of air), whisper in her ear. Rain, starstud her midnight hair. When you needed them (I'm so sorry), just like the wind, my words flew from me. Now I wish I could give up my body and be shapeless as the wind in December, or the moonlight on your floor, or a song you will always remember. Remember. ---- I send the wind to you my voice fails me but my heart is true I send the winter cold and grey every gust, every whisper say what I can't say

Pouring out of radios and every car and windows open, every piece of music goes in search of a violin to play the part about the girl, the long black hair that brushed my lips, the twisting streets, the city lights, the raindrops on the roof at night's the footprints of the ocean walking home alone along a long and lonely road, to the fires burning on the beach that bears his name.
5.
Navigate 03:21
a compass, a map a leeward leaning wind Scorpio's tail sword of Orion you get lost everything gets lost eventually navigate home to me a lighthouse alight the shoals of a foreign shore some friends go ahead some friends return no more you move on everyone moves on eventually navigate home to me a ship of fools beguiling Odysseus the rough feel of wool clenched in a giant's fist you slip away we all slip away eventually navigate home to me I looked for you in a strange country I didn't know the language I didn't know love when she was sleeping next to me navigate home
6.
oh, the dark is deep oh, the night is long I know you can't sleep I know something's wrong shadows forage in the streets storms rage on the sea black clouds gather at the beach and you lie restlessly close your eyes try to leave your worry be leave it with me like the hands of a clock keep time I will keep it with mine people will be cruel people will be kind you can talk all night to me it's alright, I don't mind to everyone you know you are a friend but if you let that go how deep the darkness then how deep the darkness then kindle your kindred spirit I know how dim the light tonight I know you're strong and you can bear it oh, how bright you are, how bright
